Hi all,
Does anyone know the difference between the Standard and Platinum sainsburys cards? Ive had a look through their site and can't seem to find any differences.
They both seem to offer the low rate balance transfer for life deal so I'm not sure which one to apply for.
Regards
Duncan

..with the Platinum is the one added difference summarised between the two I have spotted. That and a higher range of credit limits, I imagine...* emergency medical and legal assistance abroad

good luck with this, they rejected me and i have a good to very good credit score, was applying for balance transfer though. you might want to apply for the card and inform them of any balance transferes once you have recieved the card. assuming they let you do this, i cant remember.0

really - thats strange on the "best balance transfer card" article MSE seems to advise this card is better for people with not so perfect scores? With a good score i would imagine you should have had no probs.
Only reason i was thinking about this over the Barcalys one is my partner has some late payment marks on her history from an old single point account (they shouldn't be there but thats another story) and we are financially linked via our bank account, which im pretty sure they take into account these days!
Maybe I'll jsut ahve to apply and see as I want to do some rejigging!

I got the platimum as it had 0% on purchases for 10 months, which is a handy way of buying my new motorbike. The standard didn't have this. I think they were identical in all other aspects though.
I've tarted around a fair few cards over the past few years and despite this got the card. The limit is less than previous cards, about a half, but still enough. You can request an increase in any case when you log into the account.I wonder why it is, that young men are always cautioned against bad girls. Anyone can handle a bad girl. It's the good girls men should be warned against.-David Niven0 -
Who runs this card for Sainsburys? Is it Halifax like Charity cards? Or do they do it themselves?0

I assume that Sainsbury's own the other 55% and this is why some people have reported being able to transfer Halifax balances to a Sainsbury's credit card.Sainsbury's_Bank wrote:Sainsbury's Bank plc is a joint venture with 45% of the share capital owned by the Governor and Company of the Bank of Scotland, a subsidiary of HBOS plc. Sainsbury's Bank plc, St Andrew's Life Assurance plc and St Andrew's Insurance plc are connected companies as the ultimate parent company of St Andrew's Life Assurance plc and St Andrew's Insurance plc also has shares in Sainsbury's Bank plc.0 -
Sainsburys Bank is a joint venture between Bank of Scotland (HBOS) and Sainsburys.
It is viewed as a completely separate bank when it comes to Balance Transfers, so it is possible to do BTs between Sainsburys card and HBOS cards, and vice-versa.0
