Their prices are good providing you are a low user.
They charge the same whether you are on DD, prepayment or quarterly / weekly billing.
Customer services is through Scottish and Southern Energy.
Just make sure your bill states Equipower or Equigas on them if you do switch (SSE tried to insist I had switched to them for gas even though I registered through Ebico's website).
How do they fare on a price comparison site such as energy helpline for your actual annual consumption?0 -
I'm with southern at the mo, I may ask for my yearly consumption and quote myself that way, i had never heard of them and as I work for an electric and gas company a customer told me about them.Trying to make big cut backs!!!

If you are with Southern now you will not have to go through the change of supplier process, as they see it as a change of tariff.
Make sure they understand what you want to do as some Southern staff have never heard of one of their tariffs marketed by EBICO.0 -
I'm a low user and currently use Ebico for gas only, I moved my electricity away as they had become very expensive.
Before OP does anything else go onto a comparison site and see if they offer you a competitive deal.
They charge the same irrespective of how you pay, prepayment meter, quarterly bill or monthly DD.
In my case, East Midlands, I could get a better deal with Southern Electrics Go Direct 4.
But the amount of the saving is not really worth the move ATMThat gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
They are a genuine, not for profit, company, have more than 50,000 customers and have been trading for more than 10 years. Their current prices are the same as have been since early 2009, so not a short-term, cut price deal to entice you in (not that they have any lock-in fees either). In those respects, you have nothing to worry about.
However, as penrhyn says, use the comparison sites to see if they are the most competitive for you. You'll find them on all the comparison sites listed above."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

I recently discovered that they hadn't switched my gas to Ebico's Equigas even though I too registered via Ebico's website and all my emails referred to dual fuel. SE are currently backdating my bills!Free thinker.:cool:0 -

Its interesting that this problem with Southern and EBICO keeps cropping up, even though Southern are supposed to come out top for customer service.
The problem probably arises when calls go to the "overflow call centre" where staff are probably not so well trained, and dealing with the EBICO tariffs on a less frequent basis as the main call centre.0 -
I am with Ebico and have Gas and Electric prepayment meters. I choose to have pre-payment as I don't like paying by DD or running up a bill. I am very happy with Ebico.0

I use them for my gas supply, and they have been fine. I did use them for electricity as well when we first moved in, but they are not the cheapest anymore, or at least not where we live. They are just as good as any other company if not better. I've never had a problem with them.0

I switched to them for both gas and leccy
Got fed uo with my original supplier moveing my monthly DD up regardless of ussage
I now pay quarterly on bill production for which I always submit an actual reading
All communication is via the Southern website which has the ability to send messages to customer service.
I have not done any comparisons lately so cant comment on prices but at least I dont have the DD to worry about any more!0
