Alternative to grout pen?

Hi
Bought one of these grout pens from diy shop for £4.99. Wasn't working properly so cut the top off, and there is practically no paint in the thing. Just noticed label says 7ml!
Does anyone know what sort of paint is in one of these pens? There was only enough to do about a quarter of the tiles and there is no way we're going to buy another three of the things.
Seems to me to be like enamel paint thinned down with turps. Would that be correct?
Many thanks!

You would be wiser to invest in a grout saw from Screwfix (about £4) and some new grout.
The grout saw does exactly as it is sounds. You use it to cut some of the grout out from between the tiles. Then just re grout. You don't need to cut all of the grout out - just enough to allow a new top coat of grout to be applied. Much cheaper and probably quicker too.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Hi
Try this, you will be amazed, it is so good, i don't know why everyone doesn't know about it already.
Whitener for trainers (with sponge tip applicator), shake, apply, dry, buff, done, and lasts for a long time.
I use it on white tiles in the kitchen and bathroom, stays on and stays white.
(brand I use is Punch Active, but only because it was the cheapest)0 -
Hi, if the problem is that your grouting has got black mould on it making it look mucky then try the mould remover that Lakeland sells (I think B& Q sell it to, its by a company called HG I think) It stinks but it works amazingly well0

I tried a grout pen recently. It was rubbish, after a while the knib of the pen disappeared into the pen.
There is a grout whitener made by Polycell, you paint it on and then wipe it off. This worked a treat for me.0 -
Hi folks, many thanks for all the suggestions. I think we will try the trainer whitener, as the grout is only slightly yellowed, not bad at all, we just want to freshen it up a little having decorated the rest of the bathroom. Plus the grout pen has worked well enough on the section that it managed to cover. Certainly won't be buying one of them again though - they are rubbish!
Failing that, I'll give the polycell one a go, thanks again!0 -
Try WIZZ mould and mildew cleaner, costs around £1 for a big spray bottle and its the best I have ever had.
Spray it on and leave it for around 15 mins and rinse off, no scrubbing or anything and its really brightened up my tiles.
