OK here's how it goes....
I have both M$ VPC distros 32bit and 64bit. I am trying to install a linux 64bit server, my OS is Win XP 32bit but the PC is 64bit.
I can install the 32bit VPC but not the 64bit in Windows, and the Linux server does not register my 64bit CPU and MOBO.
Is there any way of getting round this?

Upgrade to Hyper-V or try vmware
Virtual PC does not support 64 bit guest operating systems.0 -
VMware can do this as i tried it with VMware workstation a while ago and it worked fine running a x64 vm in an x86 version of XP.
i think (sun) virtualbox can do this, but i haven't tried it with the latest versions. also MS VPC had limited compatibility with linux guests so i dumped it in favour of virtualbox which had much better compatibility with linux guests.0 -
Thank's GG the Sun box was just the job and relatively painless to set up...
The Linux server is in now. Easy enough to install a bit of a pig I'm betting to administer...:DTo travel at the speed of light, one must first become light.....0
