Unsolicited calls from Indian call centres

We have recently started receiving unsolicited calls from an Indian call centre, approx. once a week asking if anyone in the household has been injured any whether we would like to initate a claim on a no "win no fee" basis.

My car was recently hit in the middle of the night by a drunk driver whose bumper and reg plate fell off his car. We successfully claimed via elephant insurance and the third party paid out. I am suspicious that elephant.co.uk or their rubbish legal assistance claims company called Albany Insurance Assistance ( 0800 111 4092) have passed on my home details so some cretin whose looking to make money on the back of this. I am anal about not giving my home number to anyone so I am highly suspicious about why this company is calling us constantly.

I have been registered with the TPS (Telephone Preference Service) for the last many years (and yes I am still on there now having checked). I also have "anonomous caller reject" on my Virgin Media home phone line but these ******ds who keep calling have a fake number like "088888888". We sometimes see these wierd number from genuine calls who dial via cheaper calling card services, but this anon caller reject does not stop them from calling.

I have spoken to Virgin Media, they are powerless to do anything. I remember with BT, many years ago, they would offer a service of intercepting all calls for a short duration and ask the caller their details and therefore trace them before they put the call through but Virgin Media do seem to offer the same.

We have asked them politely to stop calling but that doesnt stop them. My elderly parents are getting rather annoyed and I'm not sure what more can be done. I am positive that this call centre is a "front" for the proper legal firm that buys the information from them and that they use this outside firm as a way of escaping UK laws and the TPS.

I am tempted to go through with one of these calls if I ever take the call (they call at home whenever Im at work) just so that I can find out the name of the real company in the UK.

Anyone else had any experience like this and if so what did they do about it?
