knocking drop links - mot fail ?
Comments

Almost certainly.
It indicates play in the suspension where there should be little or no movement.
Caveat being that I am not au-fait with suspension arrangement on pugs, this is just imhoProud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -
Yes it should, mine failed for the same thing.0

Some cars don't even have anti-roll bars. I find it peculiar that if I had a car without an ARB, fitted one and eventually the drop links wore out, the car would fail the MOT, but then if it was removed entirely (returning the car to its original state) it would have to be passed. I suppose this is just one of those things though and perhaps on cars where ARB's are fitted as standard they really are an important part of the suspension.0

I think that’s the same as with all optional things (like indicators on bikes & old cars) you won’t fail if they are not fitted but if they are fitted then they must work0

Pretty much it, iirc there are many things that aren't on all cars (or even all cars of the same model due to differences in spec/year of manufacturer), so the wording is something like "if fitted it must work", which I think covers everything from secondary lights (the third brake light for example), to airbags, ABS, traction control etc.
I suspect cars that don't have anti roll bars probably had other parts of the suspension improved/designed differently to ones that were designed with an anti roll bar as an original part of the spec.0 -
Hi
My 307sw has a knocking sound from supension which from previous experience i believe to be the drop link.
Its due for MOT soon, would this be an MOT fail ?
As an owner of a Pug myself, I can tell you yes.
Easy enough to change though, and do the opposite side at the same time, as that may also be on it's way. That's my mutt in the picture above.0 -

Yup, plus side is you should be able to get them from any decent motor factors very cheaply.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
