i have a roberts gemini 59. the connection to the aerial has snapped inside. It has been soldered back but despite their being a connection still no stations are available. Does anyone know why ? is it a special type of soldering needed.

Any general purpose solder should be fine.
In all probability there is either still a hairline crack somewhere (often in the PCB track next to the solder pad), or a solder bridge between two tracks which is shorting the aerial out. Try inspecting the area and all nearby components with a magnifying glass.0
