i am desperately trying to find someone (locally) to repair my laptop. (samsung nc10 netbook) the charging jack on the unit has broken and the charger will not connect with it to charge. i have only had it just over a year (although its been well used in that time)
the only place remotely close that i have found is pc world and they charge 229 for the repair. i can buy a brand new one for less than that so that is not an option. i would much prefer to have it repaired than to get a new one and am aware that if absolutely necessary, i can borrow my friends battery to remove the personal files before disposing of this unit however, i am tryng to be more environemtally friendy and would prefer not to dispose of said unit. thing is, all the repairs around here (westminster, central london?!?!) do not do this srt of repair. they only reair mobiles or software. not physical repairs of lappys.
i am wondering now if i am using the wrong terminology in my search. has anyone any advice on how i an search for the sort of repair centre i am after that wil actually deal with my problem? the price thing is my own issue so i am not expecting anyone to do any of the leg work for me, i just wantto know how to define what i want. to me its a repair but not to the repair centre. i am very naive about all technology stuffs so all help gratefully received.

What about contacting Samsung?, they may offer a cheaper repair.
As Sumsung's power sockets are unique to them, anyone you take it to for repair will have to buy the parts from Samsung.
Have you searched the forums and blogs to see if this is a common fault?, if it is, then you may have the right to a free repair as it is caused by a design fault.Never Knowingly Understood.

i might just try that although it is not a common problem.. it was broken when dropped off the sofa by the kids while it was charging.
i have now phoned the service centre and they offer a walk in service so i might be able to travel there although i am a little disappointed to find out it is still approx £100 to fix! the main thing is though that it CAN be done. and is half the price of purchasing a new one so i think i am happy enough with that. thanks so much for your help. i didn't even think to contact them! lolProud to be Member of BSC #92Hoping to get debt free again :wall::heart2: working hard to make my daughters proud :heart2:0
