irregular bonus / commision & the affect on housing benifit?

Hi i'm just wondering if anyone can help?
I am currently recieving housing benifit (approx 84pw)
- work has just started paying me bonus on performance - if I hit the targets set I get approx £1,000 (one off payment) in every three months payslip.

I know that this will effect my claim, but too what extent?
Will the bonus be averaged over a three month period? or will it just effect that week / month? - as its my undersatnding that HB is calculated weekly - so i'm hoping the latter otherwise using my local HB calculator states my cliam will reduce to 20pw, thus not point getting the bonus !

Any comments from anyone with a clear understanding of this would be much appreciated!!!!!

If your wages vary then you will need to send in payslips to HB each month and they can then calculate what your award is. Im guessing if one month you recieve £1000 plus your wage then you wont be entitled that month and have to pay full rent. Remember wages effect council tax too so you may find yourself paying full council tax the same month

Bonuses are counted as earnings and are apportioned over the period for which they are paid - so in your case, the bonus paid three monthly would be averaged over the three months it was earned in, not used for just the month in which it was paid.
