Leaving AST early

I'm in a contract of 5 months with a couple of other guys. It doesn't end until the end of July. The contract has our 3 names on it for the 5 months but am I allowed to move out early and keep my deposit (obviously giving the full months notice in writing to the LL etc), or do I lose it for not staying the full lengthon the contract?

A 5 month contract is unusual (as no LL can evict a tenant in the first 6 months of any AST). However, assuming this is an AST, and the 3 of you signed 'jointly and severally' then you are each liable for the rent until the end of tenancy. If one of you leaves, the LL will probobly expect the remaining 2 to continue paying the full rent (remember they are probobly not allowed to sublet so cannot replace you)

However, if they only pay 'their' share, the LL could choose to chase either them, or you, or both, for the remaining 3rd.

You signed for a fixed term and are legally liable to pay rent till the end of the fixed term.

How would you feel if the LL ignored the fixed term and suddenly demanded you leave early if you wanted to stay?
