Dead Apple Tree?

Hi.

My apple tree hasn't produced leaves or apples for 2 years now.. do you think it could be dormant or should I just accept that it is dead?

The only thing I think that could have hurt it is that I employed "greenthumb" to scarify and then feed my lawn for a year. Not sure if their feed killed my tree? I tried feeding it with magnesium last year but to no avail...

If it is condemned do you think its ok to leave it there and grow some climbing flowers on it? (if so what would work best?)

Thanks

Jane

if there are green leaves growing, then its not dead. i would reckon it might need some pruning (i am not a garden expert just a novice, but this is what i was told my a horticulture manager)

If there's no leaves whatsoever, it's dead.

How big is it? As long as it's not huge and likely to fall over, you can grow stuff up it. Dead wood is scarce these days and a lot of wildlife depend on it.

You could also use it to hang bird feeders and tables, insect/bird/bat boxes or hanging baskets.

Drill lots of holes in it and you might get solitary bees and other insects taking up residence.
