Battersea dogs home loses out!

I'm very new to knitting and have got bored with scarves so I looked on ebay for a simple pattern.
Found one for dogs coats and thought "brilliant" look simple to knit and although I wouldn't put my dogs in one, we have a lot of sanctuarys around here who might use them.
It said it was a photocopy, but I wasn't too bothered about that, to be honest I didn't really give it much thought.
The pattern came this morning and it's a Sirdar pattern and it's one thats been done along with Battersea dogs home as a fundraiser.
Sirdar donate 10p to the dogs home for every pattern sold.
So obviously the dogs are losing out here,
Not sure of the best thing to do, I tried ringing Sirdar and they just said it happens all the time,
The dogs home were much more interested and are looking into complaining to ebay.
I was wondering how much of this kind of thing is going on , the sort of thing where charities get money for things sold (or should do) and how much they lose out by this kind of sale.

This is the same as when people were selling charity wristbands on e-bay. I wouldn't worry. They got at least one payment from the original selling of the pattern, I would assume then, as the owner of the item be it a knitting pattern or wristband you can do what you like with it.
Oh and of course the dogs home were more interested, they are losing out on a few 10p's
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
I don't think selling copies of patterns is the same as selling original wristbands at all. The owner of a copyright item, whether it was originally sold for charity or not, may do pretty much as they like with the original they bought, but that does not license them to sell copies. I think it's a bit low to do that with something whose sales should be benefitting a charity.0

If you're worried, donate a couple of pounds to Battersea.0

I already donate to our local homes and I've got 5 different animals from sanctuarys so I'm doing my bit, I'm just cross that the seller is doing it and the charity is losing out, I think I will email her and tell her I think it's morally wrong.
I agree that if it was the original it would be a bit different.0 -
what was the theme of the pattern out of curiosity?Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

It's the kind of pattern I think I would happily [STRIKE]pay [/STRIKE] bid around 3.5 million for should I come across the auction!
Wonder what the fvf would be for that?Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

People keep bleating on about "Animal Rights". Well surely dogs have just as much right to get ripped off as humans?Light blue touchpaper and stand well back !0
