I am sure you could provide very good customer service gorgeous george, and of course it depends what part of the civil service you want to work and where you are. I initially trained for 3 months on benefit processing then moved to the jobcentre so I saw both ends . It was all fine until it changed to Jobcentre Plus (aka Jokecentre) but I appreciated both sides of it, ie how the front line person (with someone sat in front of them ) and the benefit processor (with piles and piles of urgent work) around them got hassled. If the work isnt processed quickly, people dont get their money, get stressed and phone up which delays everything a bit more! Maybe this is just small catchment areas, it could be different in cities with more staff? There are just not enough experienced and well trained staff available to provide a good experience all the time. In saying that I have used the Pension Service and HMRC (call centres) and they have been lovely but it is a totally different service. My niece loves the MOD - I do hope that helps and it is meant to help not hinder, what about the NHS or another government service? best of luck :)
  • :)Thanks realshannon for your reply, I'm not too sure exactly what I want to do as far as working is concerned now after all yor replies , but even tho we will be in receipt of PC's and I am working 1 day a week, I still want to go out and do more, i might go back into the voluntary side of it in charity shops for a while, will apply for what i can find tho :)

Kwaks..... I have never been face to face with anyone in 'said' departments, but yes i do get your point :)

If you don't want to work, you have to work to earn enough money so that you won't have to work ;)
