I planted garlic ( cloves bought at the garden centre ) last Autumn. I really wanted to roast some green garlic today. The garlic has good top growth , but absoloutly nothing underneath, it just looks like a spring onion !!
What have I done wrong , any ideas
Many Thanks

It is too early to lift them. The garlic head only fills out in the last couple of months of growing. I am assuming that you have kept them well watered in the recent dry spell.0

You've done nothing wrong, they will bulk up by the end of July.
You could crush a few of your spring onion sized bulbs, but that would be a waste... the next thing to look out for is the garlic throwing out a flower stem; chop it off and slice the stem (scapes) - it may be a bit tough to eat, if so the other option is to pummel it, either via pestle and mortar, or a garlic press just to get the flavour.0
