New Flat (3 years) - Damp wall...NHBC saying not covered!

  • Thank you everyone

Some one suggested that it might be a sealant leak in the shower cubicle..and so, I took the panel underneath the shower to check. There was no leak.

But, I couldn't see the wall and the shower had some sealant at the bottom which looked old and ?two small hairline gaps between the sealant and the shower base.

So, provisionally..I have put some new sealant at these spots and we are planning to check the damp patch in 2 days time, once we start using the shower.

If it still persists..I feel NHBC/insurance company is the answer. I will keep the forum updated as some one might have the same problem.

Thats bad as how long has water been getting underneath your shower etc . Ive got a similar problem and am battling with zurich insurance to get them to help me as my bathroom floor is now rotten and unsafe!
    I love this site
  • Don't know..noticed 2-3 weeks before posting this meassage.

I am hopeful it's minor problem and with sealant the wall will be ok. Our bathroom floor looks ok..it's carpeted and no colour change. I don't think it's gone to the floor yet!

What are the insurance companies for..if you have to battle with them for things like these!
