Hi we are looking for a holiday cottage in Devon/cornwall for a week in the summer holidays and I was wondering which is the best site to look at as we dont want to buy the cottage just rent one!!! I have been really surprised by the costs at the few ive looked at. Would love the use of a pool too
Any ideas welcome or cheap family hotels that anyone knows that are decent. We are a family of 6.
Thanks

Its Dorset but I've stayed here a couple of times.. http://www.guardhouse.co.uk/index.html
Its a lovely place, really homely with a nice big kitchen and living room - ideal for a family break.
Edit: Just realised, its booked up over the summerMissing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
I've used Welcome Holidays on many times. It's OK pricewise and I've never had a bad cottage from there - you get a lot of detail and the staff have always been really helpful0

Prices for cottages can vary greatly, from as little as £300 a week to well over a thousand a week. It all depends on the location and size of property. The more rural you go the cheaper (usually).
Here are some links for you to try company wise.

There are lots out there!!
Also try and search in google (or any other search engine) to bring up the independant cottages as well. Use words like self catering in north cornwall, or holiday cottage in bideford. At this time of year a lot of them will be booked up now, so be prepared to trawl through the net for a while!0 -
Halwyn Holiday Cottages in Cornwall aren't too expensive and have good facilities for kids (indoor heated pool etc) http://www.halwyn.co.uk/ and they've got a good write-up on http://therealvisitorsbook.co.uk as jave Bussells Farm http://www.bussellsfarm.co.uk/
Failing that, you can't go far wrong with www.cottageguide.co.uk

If you go through topcashback first you get £42 cashback on bookings with https://www.holidaycottages.co.uk
We have used them 4 times in the past for cottages in Cornwall for 2 adults and 2 kids. Each house has been great and there are plenty to choose from in both counties0 -

Just a thought, have you considered a caravan? Some sites are very good and have indoor and outdoor pools and coffee shops etc.
