Any ideas?
Spoken to BT today, telling us that we 'need' two lines putting in, one on each floor, and the number changing, that'll be £300 please sir.....
Bit steep that.
We dont 'need' two lines at all. We can see a BT socket on top floor, thinking run an extension downstairs to cover the other floor, keep and use just one phone number.
Surely then, we buy our own extension and away we go? Apart from BT actually changing the number of course.
Speaking to BT, get the feeling its all sales pitch, to get sales commission.
Not what we need frankly, we just need a telephone on both floors and our own number.
Any help or info guys?

If you're fine with one phone number then yes, fit your own extension.
However just because there's a BT socket doesn't mean the installation will be free - you may well be charged to connect that one, but then that's only £150 not £300.0 -
Thanks.
But what is the connection fee of £150 for? They wont be connecting anything physically?
It cant just be for the change over surely?0 -
Yes, it is.0

Really?
Oh.
Will I be able to write them a letter afterwards in a bid to ask for my eyes back?
That is a bit steep for changing a number over. How do they make a profit?
Joking aside, anyone know of a cheaper option?0 -
