I live in a 2 bed flat, all electricity with storage heaters. im on economy 11.
I leave nothing on bar the fridge during the day (all switches are off), all bulbs are energy saver and I only have 1 on for a max of 2 hrs a night, cooker is on for 30 min max 3-4 times a week, water is heated on a timer for an hour at 05.00am, the TV is on for 4 hours max a day, washing machine 2 x a week on a timer to come on at 04:00am.
I have 2 storage heaters but only one of these was on over the winter on the lowest setting (Input 1, max out put) and it only went on the week befor christmas and got turned off in Feb so 8 weeks max.
I started off paying £30 a month DD (£360 a year) they contacted me to say my meter was faulty and said I needed to up my DD to £50 pm (£600 a year). They sent someone out in Nov to look at the meter, the guy that came said the meter was running fine. EON sent me a "stopped meter" email in Feb again and sent someone out to change it and sent me another letter saying that they whee going to up my DD to £90 pm (£1080 a year).
I am currently £450 in credit.
I looked on the eon website today and it tells me they estimate my energy usage has gone up 16,888% ....Pardon me, WHAT!
I have sat and worked out my usage based on passed 6 weeks including calculating storage heater usage and my max monthly DD prior to DD discount should be £40.00 max. why are they after charging me double??

The meter was faulty/stopped. Hence it was not recording the consumption correctly. Hence why, with your continual monthly payments and no recorded consumption, your account is in credit.
But you will have to pay for what you have consumed, at least what they estimate you have consumed. This may be based on past usage or by taking your current usage and back billing you accordingly.
I suggest you contact the supplier, discuss and agree the process they will use to bill you for what has been consumed (but not recorded) and once that has been done, you'll have a much better idea of the position your account really is in and how to progress from there"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Sorry didn't make myself clear, the meter was not faulty as it is reading the same now as it was, I have paid over £800 in actually usage and am still in credit after they have taken the money for my usage. They have been billing me each month by between £25-£40 depending on time of year.
So in short I have been paying for electricity used but been over paying and am in credit by £450 and they still want to up my DD.0 -

Hi amandajb - I think the problem may be that you are being so frugal with your Elec, that Eon's computer is automatically flagging up "Problem".
Your anuual spend of £360 is astoundingly low for an ECO 7, 2 bed flat - it would not be unusual for a flat this size to cost more than twice that amount a year - and that's not even counting in the £450 credit - How long has is it taken to build up this credit?
Contact Eon's customer desk, explain the problem and don't go away till you have chatted to a named manager who has agreed to accept and act upon weekly Emailed meter readings from you.

Hi amandajb
Must admit to being a bit confused here.
Was your meter actually changed in February because it had stopped recording consumption or did we just confirm the meter was ok and leave it alone?
If we did change it because the original had stopped recording then, as Premier says, we will need to estimate your usage for the period it was faulty.
However, if the meter was ok we will have continued billing to this. In this case, have we billed to actual readings or estimates?
Did you see the 16,888% increase in your usage on the energy tracker on your online account? Don't worry if you did. This is not what we are saying you will use.
These graphs are designed to give you an idea of how your consumption is going compared to the previous year. If, as I suspect, we are dealing with a faulty meter, this will have caused a distortion in the graph. Once the account has been corrected, the energy tracker will adjust also.
Sorry for all the questions; just trying to form a picture of what might be happening.
I agree with Premier and dogshome. You need to contact us asap so your account can be fully investigated. Give us a call or drop an email to the address in my Profile if you prefer. Will be happy to take a look.
