Frost damaged potatoes

Hi All
Are my potatoes done for?
They were doing so well, and after the frost on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning they looked so sad, blackened and withered. I earthed them up and fleeced them on Wednesday evening. Previously they had been growing a bit every day, but they have not poked through again yet. Are they done for, do you think? Is there anything i can do? Have you had potatoes survive frost...?

Potatoes always survive frost, although they may take a few days to recover.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

beckstrous I feel your pain. we hadn't had a frost since early march and 2 nights ago my 2 "gamble" runner beans died and the potatoes look a bit sorry for themselves, quite a few yellow / black leaves. Unfortunately I didn't notice until the following evening, didn't have any fleece so covered them up with an old curtain which when i took off realised the weight of it had bent over some of the shoots. doh.
Hoping they will be OK. From what I have read it may knock them for 6 for a bit but they should bounce back from a night of frost.0 -
Thanks folks. I noticed leaves peeping through on one or two of my potatoes yesterday, so fingers crossed.0
