Hi guys
previously had woodchip on hallway roof. I have steam and removed this now down to the plasterboard.
Require it to be plastered now. We previously had our bedroom roof done and entire livingroom. Job was done on side for cash @ around 8m2
Based in Central Scotland ( Fife )
Hallway is approx 15m2

Hi Cons, firstly you mean "ceilings" not "roofs"Anyway, shouldn't be any more than £200 1 man 1 day - If you have another ceiling to do get them to do it the same day and it should only cost another tenner (for a couple more bags of skim) as one ceiling is only a mornings work max

Fair enough most plasterers would want to have a look (this is a good starting point that he/she isn't a cowboy) However note what I have said - this is only a mornings work, however I would always charge a full day as I wouldn't get to another job that day (unless it was next door which is highly unlikely) If you do need say another wall or ceiling done get them to look at it while they are there and they should only charge you a few quid more.

yeah well i do have 2 or 3 others rooms needing done.. but i suspect he would probably start with the £100 per that room £85 per that one
how does plastering bathroom ceiling work? in regards to drying out
bathrooom is pretty small and gets quite steamy..:T:money::T0 -

Just let the plaster cure in its own time - keep the room well ventelated and DO NOT have your heated towel rail etc on. You can still use the shower though. If your bathroom ceiling is really small a good plasterer will put it on at the same time as the hall (I obviously don't mean he can split himself in two :rotfl:) He'll just mix a little bit more "muck" up and spread the bathroom after putting the hall "on" then look after them both at the same time with regards to trowelling up times.
As you have asked this Plasterer to quote for that one ceiling (hallway) he probably will try and charge you a lot more for the rest (try it on a bit)
The trying it on bit works both ways however - YOU Try it on with him - Simply say to him "Ah, while your here do you think you could get that "small bathroom lid"on for me in the same "set";)" for an extra 30 quid,
I suspect he'll say make it £50 - hey presto bathroom ceiling done for £50
Then Say can you do these other two ceilings for me (on another day) for an agreed day rate - suggest £200 to him but don't let him push you up from this HE WILL ACCEPT - I GUARANTEE
Plasterer lingo :
A LID IS A CEILING
A SET IS one lot of plastering at one time (Roughly 3 hours) start to finish.
I'm off to do a small ceiling myself nowi'll catch up with the thread later.
Byeeeeee and good luck0 -
