Laws On Putting Fences Up??

Hi,
We live in a new build and the fencing around our back yard is up to waist height and i would ideally prefer a higher fence for privacy/our dogs
Is there any laws/council restrictions on this as i suppose it will look completely out of sync with the rest of the terraced street?
Many thanks

First check that there is no covenant on your deeds that says fences can only be a certain height.
If there is not, then for most premises, you can erect a fence up to 2m high providing it is more than 2m back from threback of thr footpath, and up to 1 m high elsewhere. In practice this means that most back gardens can have a 2m high fence, providing it is not backing onto a road or public footpath.
Check at your council's planning deapartment if still not sure.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
