It will be in the T&Cs you agreed to that if there is no activity then to prevent fraud the account will be deactivated/marked as closed without notice. This is done for your protection as if they sent out bank statements and you moved house another person could use it to spend money in your name.

If you forget about an account it is your fault, the bank provides a service (the account) it is up to you how you use it. Just take in identity documents and get it closed properly.

i will find out as they have done it without warrning.
also what i would ask is the part about the lady saying that the inactivity on my account effects my credit file? is that true brcause i have never heard of that and neither have a couple of IFA`s i know.
also why have they put the letter 's' on my file to indecate that the account has been satisfied..i have nevee had a loan...this mark apparantly is efffecting my file as it tells others that there was a problem but it is now satisfied....i want to know how i can take them to task for this.

Can i just ask is English your first language? Its readable but there is alot of grammatical errors.

Anyhow, I doubt an inactive current account would actually do any harm to your file. Even if it did, the harm would be small it would be unnoticeable compared to anything like late payment or default markers.

If you believe the bank has acted improper or unfairly, you could always ask the FOS to investigate. However this is a simple issue and i believe a local CAB office would provide a quicker response with less hassle.

Ah, a few of my friends have dyslexia, from school and university. I don't fully understand dyslexia but from experience it can affect people in different ways, mostly how to communicate either in writing or verbally.

The companies are not above the law so they are tied down to the terms and conditions which are lawful. I do not think bill that the inactive account is going to cause any determinant to your report, however if you are still worried about it, I would arrange a meeting with your local CAB office and discuss your concerns with them.

You may find it much easier to express your concerns and put forward the information the bank has given to you in person. CAB generally provides great information and support, and I know of at least 1 CAB worker who is a regular on these forum, as was my ex-Landlord.

As above, follow the link to CAB - http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/ and use the search "Find your local bureau" to locate the one nearest to you. Arrange an appointment and have a chat.
