Hi
Is the horizontal part of the trap supposed to go through the wall to the outside pipes.
Some instruction would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
Is it something like this you are fitting? http://www.screwfix.com/prods/10004/Plumbing/Wastes-and-Traps/1-Bottle-Trap-Chrome-Plated-Brass?cm_mmc=GoogleBase-_-Datafeed-_-Plumbing-_-1%22%20Bottle%20Trap%20Chrome-Plated%20Brass
If so, the horizontal bit needs to attach to a waste pipe...Because the crome trap is decorative, then the horizontal part will generally go into a false wall which will contain the normal plastic waste pipe which goes to the waste stack...See here; http://www.victoriaplumb.com/bathroom_DIY/fitting-wash-basins.html, half way down have a look at the section 'INSTALLING A WALL-HUNG BASIN' which gives you the detail.0 -
Hi
Thanks for the response, yes it is like the one in the link.
The wall is an outside wall which has already been tiled(so no chance of a false wall). Would I join the plastic pipe to the chrome part at the point it comes into the room. There is a kind of 'collar' that has come with the trap which I would assume is to hide the join. I could be wrong though!!0 -
Yes you would join both pipes at this point, though the collar is strictly for providing a shroud where the chrome pipe enters the false wall, though obviously you do not have this.0
