At the moment we have a basic bank account with the Halifax. But we are going to try and claim back fee's from when they have charged us £39 when we've been overdrawn, usually by a fiver.
So we are looking for a new bank/ building society with a basic account. Does anyone have any reccomendation's? If possible I would like to be able to bank on line.
Many thanks.

Thank you very much. Now I've decided to do it I now have to find out how!!
I'm planning to sit down tomorrow and see what Martin has to say about it. Just want to make sure I've got another account in place before I try. Not sure that the A & L will give us an account so I am also looking at the co-op. Acording to the list on the government site they charge the least for going overdrawn.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -

You can apply for a Natwest a/c online and they are really good. They even took me on being bankrupt

Right applied for an A & L account. Probably won't get it as they do a credit check and our's is shot to bit's. But we will see.
The other account I was thinking about was the Co-op basic one. Do I apply for that before they finish the credit check or wait to see if we are refused the A & L one?
Sorry bluezone can't apply for a Nat west one as we owe them money from when our business went belly up.
Have looked at the reclaiming charges thing and will go down to the local internet cafe and will print out the forms to send off.
Thank you for all your help everyone. What a great community.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
