Well it's not just macbooks on that page, right at the very bottom hehe :D

But yeah, it's more in the region for today's specs. I currently own a refurbished imac, one of the fans makes a clicking noise and apple were willing to book an appointment for it to be repaired, need to mind do that and buy Apple care before October!

One thing you can't fault apple for is their customer service, when i've called they've always been nice and polite and are willing to move heaven and earth to make your apple product right again (or so in my experience and my girlfriends experience). Pricey but oh so worth it:D
:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!

    5 years?

    5 bloody years?

Jesus. I would hate to think how much I've spent on new Hard Drives, keyboards, monitors, GPUs etc in that time frame.

I'm sorry but OP, you are expecting far far too much. Honestly, how long would you expect a 2nd hand machine to last? You're either completely dissillusional or you assume that because your product says Apple on the side that it will always "just work".

As somone already said, Apple didn't make a penny from your purchase, and your "warranty" is with the original seller. Try and track him down on eBay, I'm sure his response will be something along the lines of "lol".

I bought a new powermac G5 about 5 years ago, it's still going strong, though I recently did replace it as the new software I wanted to use is intel only, however, if my old G5 broke I would not feel hard done by.

No piece of technology is an investment, it's a quickly depreciating asset, and I think a five year life span is quite reasonable, for £700 I would not bother to repair the old G5, you could get a new mac mini for that much, and performance would probably be more than a match for a 5 year old PM G5, and of coarse you could continue to use the software and peripherals you have already purchased.

Thank you all for your input, good or bad. If some of you had read my post/s in detail you would understand my grievance. I know that asking for something to be done on a machine 5+years old is a lot. But I paid x5 the price of a regular machine, shouldn't this be reflected in the quality? If I had paid £500 for a machine that had lasted 5years, I could quite easily forget about it & look for a replacement. I will re-iterate my problem is this: Apple US are admitting responsibility for this design flaw & making good with their US customers. Apple UK are not. Why?

  • Can you ensure your next machine has a keyboard capable of converting a chunk of text into a coherent, easy to read post??
