Other deed poll companies are available.

There are strict guidelines on changing kids names tho so have a good read of the info section, it may also need the fathers agreement, depending.

Hiya, thank you for your reply i will have a look at that site now. I'm willing to pay but i have tryed solicitors but they charge like £140 per deed poll which is to much for me to afford. Ive looked on the internet and loads of sites are coming up but you never knw they might not be legal and i dont knw much about this sort of thing

    Hi There,

Try your local court, I did mine @ Leeds crown court 12 months ago so I have the same surname as the rest of my family as have my dads name who have not seen for a long time, I stood up in front of the judge had to read a pledge about not using my name for fraud, gave me the deeds and signed my birth certificate and was in and out in 10 mins all for a massive £8 LOL!! I have never had any probs using my deed poll papers as a legal document might be worth giving your local townhall/ court a call to see if they can do it but I did here in Leeds.

    Hope that helps XsX

In the UK it is not necessary to change your name by deed poll. You have the right to call yourself any name you like as long as its not for financial gain. Deed polls are not registered anywhere and have no more legal status that you doing it yourself. This relates back to case law from the 18th century.

True, but when it comes to proving to a bank, for example, that the change of name has, what they regard, as legal standing being able to hand over a court stamped document will carry far more weight. The same will also apply to schools.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

I used these last year to change my name and title, very quick and cheap.

I don't know the circumstances with your children but their names are harder to change than adults

Can you giver us some idea of the circumstances for this name change? Not to be nosy but some people think a deed poll is required when actually it isn't.
