Ask the police to give you a "crime" reference so you can claim from your insurance company. ;)

The n.Ireland office may pay out the cost. Get in contact with your local councilor, MP or citizens advice.

You could try 'billing' them. They wont pay. You could then, when it comes to rates payment, pay the rates minus what is owed to you. This may get you nowhere but it may well bring in more attention than they are willing to suffer.

What has not paying rates got to do with the psni paying up for a door?

nadnad, might it be worthwhile her contacting her local District Policing Partnership? Especially if she can get the initial door repairer to make a statement to the effect that in his opinion excessive force was used, which caused unnecessary damage.

Because it is roping together 'public sector'. I am thinking 'outside the box'.

The problem with this is they will take you through court for non payment.

The costs for taking a small claims court action would be £70.00. Calculated gamble, PSNI might pay to stop bad press!

You cannot be serious - do you really think PSNI give a hoot about what is in the press? They get bad press most days.
