Does anyone know any shop in Belfast were I can get an iPhone screen repaired for cheap, the apple store are charging £140 to get it replaced and I have heard of a guy in ballyclaire that will do it for £40 but I was looking for somewhere in the city centre for around the same price or cheaper. Can any one suggest anywhere, thanks.

Is it me or was there another post on this thread (possibly removed) that also suggested contacting the same company in the post above?

The only one I could find was the laptop repair shop in Pottinger's entry - they did it for me for £80 and did a great job0

Just to say I've now done this twice (my 3G and a mate's 3GS).
Glass screen's with digitisers are available on eBay for less than £15 (important to get the right bit as some shysters sell literally the glass only leaving you with no touchscreen!). They come with all the tools to dis-assemble the iphone and youtube has several hundred videos showing you what to do.
The only really hard bit is separating the broken screen from its plastic frame (which is pretty flexible without the rigidity of the glass panel). The glass is well stuck down so you need to proceed carefully. Some video's suggest using a heatgun to warm it and soften the glue.
If you do this take extreme care. I used a domestic hairdryer on low heat and the plastic still started to warp before the glue noticeably softened. It all pulled back into shape however when the new screen went on and still works perfectly (brown trousers averted!)
Personally, I'd now suggest setting the screen/frame assembly face down and using a small hammer to seriously smash as much of the glass as is possible from the back. The smaller piesces then break out easily with the little plastic "spudger" tool you'll get with the replacement screen. (Oh' and you will need a little bit of solvent to clean the old crud off the frame before reapplying the new double sided "sticky" you will also get with your kit.)
If all that sounds frightening - go pay your money elsewhere. (Or come to Bangor and pay me as much as you want - lol) but its really pretty do-able for anyone who can deal with 2 small screws, 3 ribbon cables and 20-30 mins of careful glass removal.0 -
i went to iservices in ballyclaire and i can't recommend them enough, less than 30 minutes and the phone looked brand new. i was very very impressed.

Also used iServices to repair a 3G iphone, £50 and done within 30 mins.
Much better than the £146 apple wanted!!!!!
Great service and would happily recommend0 -
Yeah, I got my N95 screen replaced there last week. Managed to talk him down from £50 to £40. Very professional outfit indeed; quite a contrast to one or two city centre outlets that I have experienced using...!0

I would like to express my thanks to the people on this forum thread that I was able to get my iPhone repaired locally.
I tried Apple but the price was too expensive to get an old scruffy 3G repaired and was considering selling it on eBay but after a quick google search I ended up here on this marvellous site which I have now recommended to a couple of friends.
I dropped the phone on to our kitchen floor and cracked the screen on friday evening and found the continuously mentioned company here called iservices so I gave them a ring and yes the chap was of EXCELLENT help. Repaired in about 25 minutes for 50 quid. You couldn't really ask for better than that? Apple are looking £140 for this.
