r50 Spotlight problem

I have 6 r50 spotlights in my kitchen and when i removed a bulb that had blown it came out with the part that you screw it into attached to it.
It is metal square in shape with an internal thread for the bulb and an external thread that screws in to the ceramic holder, any advice on how to screw this back in or do i have to take the whole thing down from the ceiling.
Also low energy r50 where is the best place to get these i have seen 6 for £24 on the net but would rather see them in the flesh before i buy.
Thanks.
