Return to work credit

Hi,
I have been offered a job and wil be earning less than £15k so will be able to apply for the return to work credit as I have been on incapacity benefit for the required period. I have downloaded a return to work application form do they contact your new employer as I didnt really want them to know that I would be claiming this benefit etc. Also I understand I get help with my mortgage costs for 4 weeks and my council tax for 4 weeks do I have to apply for this to or is that done automatically when they close my income support and incapacity claims down. Any info would be appreciated

  • Random compliance checks are made with employers to make sure applicants are telling the truth about working - this has got to be done, otherwise fraud would go through the roof. Your employers may get asked, they may not. I cant help with the other questions im afraid.

JCP will contact you after (I think), 10 weeks, and then after 26 weeks. You'll need to send them some payslips to confirm your earnings are less than £15K.
