    Hi everyone,
i am currently looking for a new job after being made redundant in march. Since then my boyfriend has left me and we own a house i am trying to keep the house as i have no where else to live and he does. The thing is i have only ever worked in retail on minimum wage and i am going to struggle paying for everything by myself.
I know i will get single persons allowance on council tax but would i be entitled to income support on full-time minimum wage? if so how much is that?
    Any replies greatly recived

No you would not receive Income Support if you have a full time job paying minimum wage.

    Hi

Is the house rented or do you have a mortgage on it? Not sure of the rules on housing benefit - I am sure someone will come along who does though..:)

Your best bet is to get someone in to share, paying rent which can go towards your mortgage and splitting utility bills. You can earn over 4,000 pa without paying tax on it under the Rent a Room scheme.

i am 29. cant rent a room coz the second bedroom would bearly fit a bed in its that small!

Would you not consider moving in there yourself & take a lodger short term to help you out till you get financially on your feet? Occupying the box room was something I did myself for many months when I lost my job through illness & struggled to pay the mortgage. It may not be what you prefer to do, but it is an option if you are at risk of losing the roof over your head.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

If you want to keep your house, the only options are to bring more money in to it, either by working more hours, getting a better paid job or renting out a room. (Agree with above post as to moving into small room yourself.)

Only you can decide which of these options will be best for you.
