Software site, Valve, is giving away puzzle game Portal for free for PCs and Macs if you download it before 23 May. The game usually retails on Valve' site for £16.99, so grab it while you can!

[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]wtd_icon.gif To get the game[/title]
Simply go to download service Steam, and follow the simple instructions to get the game on your PC or MAC before 24 May.

[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]wtd_icon.gifWhy's it doing this?[/title]
Canny MoneySavers below have suggested that it's because Portal 2 is due to come out very soon so it's trying to hook you in now in the hope you'll buy the new one. But it's free so don't look a gift horse in the mouth!

Game nerds at MSE Towers say this is similar to the popular Half Life series of games.

Massive game review site, Eurogamer, says:
"The portal gun is the most exciting thing to happen to FPS games since the gravity gun, and it's no surprise to discover that Valve is agonising over whether to give it to Gordon Freeman. Its function is simple: bridging gaps. But, in doing so, it alters the way in which you approach an FPS environment so radically that it's hard to think past it. Give it to Gordon, and Half-Life will never be the same. Better to keep it in the family, but away from the action. That's what Portal does, and the results are interesting."

    Hi, everyone.

    I'm new here, and thought I'd share with you this freebie:

    Valve is giving out Portal on Steam for free until 24th May!

    This is probably an attempt at hooking people on it, so they can buy whatever they release at the end of the year, but still... freebie!

    PS: I can't use links, so please just google Portal Steam, and you'll get it

    Thank you for helping us help you help us all.
  • Half life is a shooty game, Portal is much more of a puzzle game. Sure, you'll need reactions at some point but the puzzle part of it is more prevalent.

    My wife would never play first-person shooters but she quite enjoys Portal!
