You are on £97k a year and want to borrow £7k?

Have a look down the back of the sofa.

If you earn approx 5K per month which varies due to bonuses then dont you mean you are on a 97K OTE rather than salary which lets face it is very different.

Still - it doesnt matter if you earn 10K or 100K if you are maxed out, you wont get any more credit. In fact to the lenders, you may as well be earning 10K, as you have as much cash left around for new repayments as someone earning that amount would.

    Not surprised bank said no.

If you can't live within your means earning £97k then they know you cannot afford a loan.

So many jealous people on this site.

£27,000 on a wedding when you are on 97k a year is cheap. I'm on 18k and spending 13k on a wedding. Without credit. Go Figure, people do whatever they want and if they can afford it then i'm all for it. One person's desires is another mans worse nightmare. I understand spending a lot of money on a meaningful event like a wedding, than someone who spends £80 a month on a Sky TV package.

You live within your means. Just because earning 5k a month seems a monstrous amount, I know I could quite easily spend that a month, but I don't cause I don't earn it. I really want a new stereo for the car. But I can't afford it etc etc...

To the OP, why not try a 0% credit card? On your income you should be able to get a large limit. Although is 97k a year your base salary or are you on commission?

Jealousy hee haw to do with it.

Simple fact is despite high income they still can't afford the wedding WITHOUT borrowing.

Bet everything else like cars is on credit as well. You should only get a car if you can afford to pay for it.

    Absolutely agree.

You don't work in a job paying that kind of wonga and then live like a pauper... And having more money doesnt make you better with money!!

Good luck with your wedding, second time luck does sound like an expensive hobby otherwise!!

We take home £5400 a month salary,no bonuses, but my outgoigs are £4700 every month, includes holidays, emergency funds, but not food, petrol etc. I have just been given a £18100 credit card and could get a loan tomorrow. I think the banks are only considering your £30000 wage. What industry are you in?
