Pregnancy Freebie

I have been plagued by phone calls and junk mail since signing up to Emma's Diary when I was pregnant, phone calls 3 days after DS was born from an insurance company wanting to know if I wanted to buy insurance incase my little one ended up with a critical illness / another wanting to let me know that they were signing me up for a insurance policy incase my little one became critically ill and I had to take time off work (I told them that they were not to sign me up for anything without my permission) ... not impressed with them at all (oh and I did tick boxes where possible to stop junk mail) As for the phone calls I have signed up to TPS to stop them... the freebies certainly aren't worth the hassle..tying hard to cut down grocery shop bill...0

I have been in a meeting with Emma's Diary before trying to get a client of ours to contribute something to the pack. It is true, they do sell a list of customers to the companies so that they can contact you directly. However, if there is an opt-out, then they are breaking the law in passing on your details. If I meet with them again I will mention this. However, the sample pack they showed to us at this meeting seemed quite good. It had the cereal and fruit flakes, but also had nipple cream and pads, stretch mark cream, and LOTS more. I was quite tempted by it.
With reference to the suggestion of getting two packs. They only update the packs every 6 months... so you might find you get exactly the same pack if you don't time it right! HTH
My client, incidentally, is inclined to work with Bounty instead as it has a better reputation.0 -
Bounty were appalling, 2hrs after giving birth, their photographer entered the privacy curtains and offered me a range of baby shots. Needless to say I suggested that it was not an appropriate time. Avoid giving details.0

ooh don't get me started on the bounty photographer!!! She came bounding into my room (was very lucky to get a sideward), DS wakened with her thumping around began to cry, and she shoved her finger in his mouth! I was like "I hope you washed your hands!?!" she kept muttering about him needing a dummy - this she concluded from 5 minutes spent with DS who never really cried that much...tying hard to cut down grocery shop bill...0

I agree with most people here - Emma's diary might be worth getting if you have a Lloyds handy but don't get your hopes up. (I got mine about 6 months ago and it was pretty disappointing.) Bounty packs are much better - they do include a fair amount of junk but there are some good freebies too. Just make sure that whatever you sign up for, you tick the opt-out box - and if there isn't one, it can't do any harm to add a note saying "NO DIRECT MARKETING PLEASE".0

when i got pregnant this time round ( as it followed several losses) i set up a dead drop email address. and had a mail forward to my mail email address. so if there are any good offers i can claim them ( being careful to reply only from the DD email account) if its pants then i exclude them from the mail forwarding and it just gets stacked up in cyberspace.
anything that needs a postal address gets my dr's surgery at the prompting of my midwife, i mark it c/o dr's surgery - no unsolicited mail please. so far the receptionist is still talking to me so i guess they are not getting deluged with junk mail for me
as for the bags themselves? the first ED one is a bit of al et down, the second one is better, but the motherload is the hospital boubnty bag, im not checkin out till the bounty lady has been, and the bounty photographer isdispatched quickly with "im actually a child photographer so ill do it myself thanks"
@itsmylife, <gasp> that anyone put a finger in your babys mouth, id have punched her! blame the hormones baby!took on Abbey, Barclays and woolwich and WON. starting new life in Canada! debt free from March 2013!!!0 -
I thought they were alright actually, i had a couple of tiny samples of nappy cream, breast pads and some drinks. I just put them in my hospital bag! Saved buying them
never had any phone calls or emails from them either, guess I'm one of the fortunate ones with that by looking at the above posts... 0
