Message 2 months after camera sold....

Need some advice on what to do here please!
I sold a camera on 4th June I recently contacted the buyer to ask to leave feedback, they've replied with:

ive been having trouble downloading pictures to computer-it doesnt seem to be a proper 3mp ,it wont focus on anything close (you didnt mention this)thanks.

Now without being funny about it, the downloading, the 3MP pictures and focus problem - how can this be my fault?
I've sold the camera as working but used and I never had any of those problems (not that I noticed) but could be down to it being a !!!!!! camera.... hence my sale.
Should I reply and ask them what problems they are having downloading? I can't do anything about the others can I?

  • I think your first mistake was contacting the buyer asking them to leave feedback.

It seems a little strange that the buyer waited 2 months before reporting any kind of problem and then only contacted you because you contacted them first.

do a little looking up on google for reviews of that camera

if it's a problem common to the particular model number then point the buyer in the direction of the review

it's not your fault if the camera is of poor design

Incidentally, what is the model number and make of the camera?

Not such a good idea to remind people to leave feedback then? I've always done it before to make sure they received goods etc....

The camera is a Polaroid PDC3030 I'll see if I can find a review.

Thanks, I think I've learnt from the chasing feedback bit - can we move on? ;-)
What should my reply be then?

Personally I'd do nothing unless he contacts you. 2 months down the line is a bit late to be complaining IMO. I know you contacted the buyer first but if the problems were that bad why didn't they contact you sooner?

I wouldnt bother contacting them again (personally I wouldnt chase for feedback in the first place as its entirely optional) and wait to see what they do - if they really think that there is a fault then they would put in a claim.

I assume that you havent left them feedback yet?

    "Hi xxxxx,

I'm sorry to hear you have been having problems with the digital camera you recently purchased from me. However, i can assure you that the camera is 3MP, please see the product specification here:

    http://www.dealtime.co.uk/xPF-Polaroid_Photomax_PDC_3030

With regards to the focus issue, again if you see the specs you will see the camera has fixed focus and does not come with an optical zoom; this is the manufacturers standard.

Further, you state that you are having problems trasferring the taken images to your pc. Although i am no expert, i can assure you that this camera is capable of achieving this. Have you tried installing the lastest drivers for the camera? A link to the latest drivers can be found here:

    http://www.polaroid-digital.com/?cid=14&lid=1&serid=1&id=3&pid=8

Again, i am sorry that you are having problems. However, i hope you agree that the problems you are having are nothing to do with the condition of the item, but is simply due to the camera's specification."

I'm sure you can play about with that, just knocked that up as i had a spare 5 minutes. Or you can just ignore them as there isn't much they can do after 2 months especially as like i have already stated, it is not the condition of the camera they are complaining about but simply they want it to do something that it isn't capable of.

PS Do people not read up on things they intend to purchase? Especially electronic equipment!

Don't be silly!! :D Most buyers can't even read the listings properly let alone reading up on things they want to buy.
