  • I thought I would copy my goals for the week onto my thread to keep reminding me of them - for me, these goals go from Sunday (today) until Saturday night - 26th.

    This week's goals are to-:

    1. Finish business order, pack and send off
    2. Complete and submit 2 x job applications
    3. Make 2 phone calls outstanding
    4. Check car insurance quote with confused and order/pay for
    5. Go to post office to get car tax (remember stamps and all docs)
    6. Book car in for MOT (check date)
    7. Watch last Blockbuster free trial DVD and send back
    8. Send emails to chase up o/standing piggy and ipoints
    9. Restart spending diary on Thursday (payday)
    10. Pay off as much as possible from credit card

That's enough for one week I think!

  • Hello everyone,

Today has been really good fun - we got back from our weekend away and a colleague of OH's popped in and ended up staying until about 8pm with his wife and their little boy - it was one of those lovely days which isn't planned but ends up being great fun and I think I might have found a new close friend who lives locally - whoopee!

Just up late trying to finish a job application - boooo. Off to bed soon as my brain is a bit fried.

Sorry I've got in a a little late on the welcome hoo-ha!

    But anyway WELCOME!

I think you're doing superbly already and have a lot of great ideas about what you're doing and how to get it started.

I dont really have much to comment on regarding the SOA, insurances always confuse me and I dont drive a car so I'm pretty much useless :)

Am amazed you've got half of your weekly goals done already! I wish I had my motivation back!

Anyway well done of finding us, heres to many a chat and tips shared, plus theres always plenty of close virtual friends to be had on this site :)

  • Hello everyone,

Its payday today and here is my updated SOA:-

    Salary:- £1187.25
Other income from odd jobs/Amazon/Quidco etc - £219 (approx this month)

    = £1406.25 (approx)

    Outgoings:

    Joint Account £784
    Commute to work £99.25
Petrol £40 I still have just under half a tank of petrol so approx. 125 miles
Mobile £18 £3 dearer this month as I hadn't set up the Direct Debit. I have sorted this for next month
    Post office stamps £10
    Birthdays £10
    Toiletries £10
Savings for car yearly costs £30
    Savings for contacts/prescriptions/dentist/vet etc £25
    Savings for clothes/shoes £30
Weekly spends £100 a month Its a 5 week month so £20 a week. I will withdraw this in cash as this is the way I prefer to pay for sundries now. I'm going to start my spending diary today too.
    Debt repayment £250

    £1406.25

I also have £167 (annual car insurance) and £41 (annual breakdown cover) in my current account - it will be there until the 10th September when they take it out - so tempting but I'm being very good!

O.M.G chocolatecake, I have just stumbled across this thread and noticed your avatar. Lady (for I assume you are female what with a name like chocolatecake) what are you trying to do to me!! It looks sooooooo yummy.

Anyway, I just wanted to say welcome to the boards. It looks like you're making great strides already and I for one am going to lurk on your diary to see if some of your motivation will transfer to me by virtual osmosis!!

I like the idea of updating your SOA (I'm a bit scared to revisit mine) and I also think that if you're a achievement orientated person the goal setting thing works well. It seems to be doing good things for you anyway!!

Anyway, enough! For I have rambled too long. Looking forward to getting to know you a bit better and welcome to the DFWs!!

hi there chocolate cake, I too have only just caught up with this.

Another thing I would say, is if you are losing weight and you have been fairly *big* then dont forget to get rid of any previously fitting clothes on ebay. I know theres a fairly lively market in clothes for the fuller figure on there, adn a few extra pennies always helps :D
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
