I'd tend to agree with that. If you can earn yourselves extra brownie points with your employer (doing shifts/overtime at short notice) they are more likely to be willing to be flexible about your hours etc. Lets face it, most bars would have managers serving the drinks if it wasn't for students.0

Thanks for all the info and suggestions. Is it best to write to store manager or hand in CVs with a covering letter in the shop. (I say CV but as he has never had a job I suppose it will just be a sheet with his exam details and interests.)0

And DS1 went off to Uni but still works at the cinema in holidays - during term-time they employ students who've come here to study, and they all vanish out of term-time!
DS1 doesn't work during term-time (well not in paid employment) but has managed fine with his loan, backed up by what he earned before he went. But he's not a big spender, doesn't drink or smoke or go to clubs. And knows how to shop!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Got an email in my Uni account today, concerning jobs going at Primark.
"Primark are relocating to the old Littlewoods store and are looking for approximately 100 new members of staff.
Please be aware that there is no availability to work term time only."

Supermarket is also good as you generally get discount on goods (asda was 10% when I worked there). Also, depending what department, you might get first dibs at sales stock and reductions. Worth thinking about in addition to wages. Not buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN0
