mis leading hi-life diners club

We joined the hi-life diners club offering 2 for the price of 1 meals, it has so many restrictions, can’t book Friday/Saturday nights, Sunday lunch times etc. the first restaurant we used marked the back of the card in their particular little box so we can’t use them again (the majority choose not to do this the brochure said).
But what really annoyed us was when we introduced a friend, this is what it says in their directory word for word.
“Simply encourage a NEW member to come on board and when they join that they quote your unique membership ID (found on you membership card), we’ll then send you your terrific £10 REWARD”
Then there is an image of a £10 note with the wording
£10 REWARD… ACT NOW!
All they are offering is £10 off our next year’s membership.
I find the wording very misleading I have emailed them but say they never offer cash payments
Can I take it any further?
Annoyed

no.Re the wording ,you have made the assumption it is cash. Also if its so bad,why would you recommend someone else!! Or are you just looking for a way to get out.
Also some interesting reviews on Ciao! re how members are viewed by the restaurant trade.Sorry you dont feel it was a good deal but some people say you can save money.
This looks exactly like the type of offer you should read the terms and conditions very closely first.0 -

I used to be in this before we had kids and I think it is a great scheme. Yes there are a few restricitions but most of these are imposed by the individual restaurants eg not valid for sunday lunch. Re marking the back of the card, it is the norm for them to mark it but it does state in the book that lots of restaurants don't cross their box out. Again this is down to the individual restaurants discretion and not a fault within the scheme- the way I see it is that it is a bonus if they don't cross it out.
Even if you only use it 2 or three times on a 3 course meal you will have made your subscription money back.
Not sure about the £10 reward thing, but I am always wary of these unless they actually say "we'll send you a cheque" in the wording.0
