Ebay listings , time etc...

I'm in the middle of doing some listings. Usually I tend to list either on a Sunday for say 7 days on a Thursday for 10 days and, usually for them to end in the evening.
My question is in your experience does it really matter what the time, day or duration is ? and, also maybe what you're actually selling ?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on your Market as well. If your aimimg at stay at home mume (baby clothes etc) People report that finishing things in the morning is good. I sell mainly Tech stuff that goes well in the evenings
I don't list for 10 days for an auction as I think that some people don't want to wait and find another item finishing earlier. I have recently found Tuesday and Wednesday nights I am getting better prices than Sundays. I don't if this is due to so many people listing to finish on Sundays so there are more items so lower prices.
Its a bit trial and error but avoid the soaps. Also when the world cup starts avoid the major games0 -
I tend to finish mine Saturday evening after all the reality TV has stopped airing. I don't know if it's any better than any other night but it gives me more time to package items (I list them as being posted within 1 business day of receiving payment) and the buyer more time to arrange payment so the item gets posted Monday morning. (Of course this doesn't always work as I've had buyers who wait until the following Wednesday or something to pay, thus messing up my plans :rotfl: )0

Might be the exact opposite really - if hubby and kids are watching England knocking a ball about - the better half might think " Just go and see whats knocking about on Ebay" ! :rotfl:As Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question !

I think it can really vary depending on weather, type of stock sold and where you are in regards to pay day.
Saturdays are terrible for me, but all weekday evenings very good, but Sunday evening is the best. My BINS go at completely random times day and night but then i do sell a lot overseas where the time zones are different.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. i also think it depends on your market. i've started selling a few more items recently and i do a bit of research first. i look at the category i'm selling in and check out about 10 completed, sold items - sorted by date ended - that either match or exceed the price i hope to get. it's also a good way to find out the not so good times to sell. in the past week or so i've looked up about 7 different categories in detail for those items closest to mine, new or unused, and have found that there are different days for different categories. as the other readers have said. it's also a good way to find how most experienced sellers match the format of the auction to the category. a few of the areas i looked at were 90% auction and with others it was 90% BIN.
i also check to see how long the item was listed for. again this varies but I found that most items were listed for either 5 or 7 days. There were some items which looked difficult to shift so sellers used BIN for 30 days.Snootchie Bootchies!0 -
My BINs have gone from 2 minutes after 'live' to last minute over 30 days.
I tend to list the auctions at anytime and have found recently that finishing in the week has been better. So many ebayers go for weekend finishes that I get better prices in the week. If people just check the 'ending soon' option then on weekdays you're right near the top. I also tend to start at the weekends as then that catches the 'new listing' option.0
