Credit card 'backup' insurance coverage

in Credit cards
Hi, recently booked a cruise and considering paying with my credit card (although they make a charge...) to get the extra insurance cover in case something goes wrong. However - stupidly - I paid the deposit using my debit card (to avoid the charge). Does anyone know whether - if I pay the balance with my credit card, the cover will kick in if something goes wrong, or whether it'll be nullified because I haven't paid the whole lot using the credit card??? Don't want to pay the extra charge for credit if there's no point!

If it costs more than £100 you only need to pay £1 with your credit card for section 75 protiection - if that's what you're meaning? If you're booking via a travel agent then you don't get section 75 protection. If this is some other protection specifically for your card then you'd need to phone your card people and ask."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0

And section 75 protection doesn't cover 'if something goes wrong' carte blanche.
It kicks in if the supplier goes bust or fails to meet his contractual obligations. No other circumstances.
But yes - you don't have to pay everything on the CC to benefit from it.0
