  • You had best ring up or speak to someone in a branch of your bank/buil society and find what has really happened to the money before making any decisions.

This is very common, the merchant will have processed your payment and it could well be somewhere in the system so make sure you do account for it to avoid any nasty shocks when it does come through.

Even if you don't have the funds in your account the transaction will still be debited,
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!

They haven't taken the payment (yet).

Sometimes payments get delayed (or forgotten), but like that proverbial bad penny, they will turn up. The time limit to claim payment is six months (or more). The payment can go through any day, the company does not need your card or permission again.

Make sure you have sufficient monies in your account.

thanks for all the help peeps i think i will give the bank a ring and see what they say we have a overdraft but dont like to use it if we dont have to, so if i dip in to the money a bit it wont be to bad as i have that to fall back on and can get my mum to top it up if needed

AFIK, both bengal stripe and ged1980 are right on the time limit.

As i understand it - they have 6 months to take payment with the authorisation number they get when they swipe your card.

After 6 months, they have to make a claim for it as the authorisation number expires. They can do this any time up to 6 years after the transaction

All that's happened is the original authorisation the garage obtained has fallen off because they evidently don't book their authorised transactions that frequently.

When they do post them, the authorisation will be re-presented and the money *will* be taken from your account regardless of the state of the balance.
