being given a reciept

I recently made a car purchase for which the dealer took the final payment over the phone by debit card.
3 days later I picked up the car but they didn't give me the reciept for my final payment (over £6K) and I didn't realise until i got home.
I called the dealer who said they woud post it out, they didnt, i spoke to head office who said that the dealer said they would send me a copy again, they didn't. I've written to head office again but not heard anything yet.

What are my rights to being given a reciept for my money?

Thanks

Your bank statement will count as proof of payment, I don't think you can demand a receipt.

I agree, get a copy of your bank statement and maybe keep it near your car details (but perhaps blank out some card details just in case)

My understanding was that if you have been charged VAT then they must provide a receipt on request.
