Capita rip off

Is there anyway of claiming my money for shares owned in a company that was taken over without using the Capita Tracing Solutions (rip off) service?

I had shares in Amstrad who were bought out by Sky TV, I dont recall getting the any paper work from Capita registrars about the take over but I was emmigrating to NZ at the time so it is quite possible I over looked it. Now even though I have my share certificate and Capita as registrars know I am entitled to the money and have my address they are telling me I have to put in a claim through their tracing division for which they are going to charge me 15%!

I find this quite unbelievable, is there any way around it?

Ignore their advice and ring up capita, (020 8639 3399 or 0800 408 1004)explain your situation and they will send you a form to complete the cash for shares offer

Dont agree to any offer to let capita tracing solutions to carry out this very simple transaction

I did this recently with BAA share offer and received a cheque withing five days of sending in my share certificate and signed offer acceptance form

    Good luck
