yes, I know. The OP said how much this girl was earning in a fortnight and it seems to work out at a lot less than that.

Sorry, I didn't do the sums, i just thought you'd missed that she was 18.

I think you've hit the nail on the head as her story really doesn't seem to add up. Good luck in your investigations and do come back to give us an update as we're all nosy as hell!:)

Great minds think alike, theres more to this situation that meets the eye.... Good luck,

Very big longshot but have you got her mothers details? may be worth ringing in the hopes of a few anaswers, and point out ur situation and that her daughter should really be her responsibility
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

    Thanks all.

Well, alarm bells were ringing all day but I had a few appointments to go to so couldn't really deal with her immediately and she'd disappeared out anyway.

I went to see her Mum and her mum was at her wits end. She had told her that if she didn't tidy her room and put her washing in the basket etc then she could find somewhere else to live - be honest how many of us have said that to our kids? I know I certainly have - it goes along with the 'I'm not your slave' comments etc. She has lied through her teeth to me as her Mum's fiance had paid for her room up front and she was supposed to be paying him back - he hasn't had a penny. She also owes her mum loads of money and has been an absolute nightmare.

The upshot of it all is that she refused to go home and asked me to take her to her boyfriend's. When I dropped her off with all her gear, the poor lad was beside himself he said they aren't even really going out and he'd let her stay there before and she'd messed him about so much that he'd failed his exams. I told him to tell her to get down to the local young person's homelsss centre with her bags this morning and change the locks! She sent her mother a text this morning saying 'You are no longer my mother' - Nice girl .....

I just can't understand it, her Mum is lovely and has been really good to her but she is an absolute nightmare who does nothing but lie to everyone. I think she needs to hit rock bottom before she will pull herself back up again, she just doesn't know how lucky she is

that's OK. I did look up the minimum wage and did a rough estimate of what deductions were likely to be made. I think it was also easy to miss that the OP was talking about imcome per fortnight rather than per week.

Her room is in Bradford and it is 160 miles away. She was 'homesick' & wanted to come home. She also didn't want to do the course and said she felt very 'out of it' as hardly anyone else there spoke English. I have told her to find out when the agreement is up. Thing is, I don't want 'rent' from her I want them to help her find somewhere of her own and some money to live on. We haven't really got enough room for her as our bedrooms are tiny and I have two kids of my own to think about.

Absolute load of rubbish. :rotfl: I have lived and worked in Bradford for four years, have studied at the college and a few friends work at the university. The vast majority of people speak English tho we are a very multi-cultural city. Those new immigrants who don't speak English tend to remain within their own communities. More likely she felt 'out of it' was not the centre of attention and people weren't falling for her tall tales.

Thanks Firefox, I did think it was a bit odd - I myself originally come from a large multi-cultural city and know that most people speak English or at least try to - just as when I lived abroad I went to the shops armed with dictionary etc LOL. I've now realised that she is a pathological liar who wants to be the centre of everyone's world. She is also an extremely spoiled only child who still wants everything her own way and will not accept that as an adult, you have to grow up and make your own way in the world. Little beatch has even told her mother she is no longer her mother :(
