How much benefits money can i get please?

Hello i have recently split up with my boyfriend, and so i was wondering if anyone can help me with some questions i have,
as i will now need to claim state benefits since i dont work myself but will be moving out of his house with my kids within a few weeks.
How much is the benefits money please?
How do you go about getting it from the local council or government?
And how long are you able to get it for before it expires?
My local council is either Westminister, City of London, or Tower Hamlet.
Im not exactly sure which one though as i haven't ever needed to contact them before.
I have 4 children, 1 boy and 3 girls all aged between 2-6.
And we have been living with my most recent boyfriend for the past 5months, and with my ex-husband prior to that for 5years.
What are all the benefits that i am able to get please?
And what is the amount of them?
If you require any other info or details to get the correct benefits please let me know.
Thanks in advance.
Lisa

Hi Lisa, as i posted previously, although im not sure if you saw my post-
You are entitled to claim the following benefits-
£4,000 per month LHA housing benefit.
£735 per month Child-Tax-Credits.
£258 per month Income Support.
£242 per month Child benefit.
And approx £165 per month Council tax benefit.
So £5,400 per month total benefits.
To claim them you need to go onto your councils website and onto the direct.gov site, download the forms,
and post them to where they say to be posted.
If you just google the name of each benefit you will find the direct.gov page that you need and where the form is.0 -
Where does the £4000 rent allowance come from, please?
All OP's children are under ten so as far as I can see she is entitled to LHA for a 3 bed place which in Tower Hamlets, inner east london, is £350 a week, or £700 in central London, neither of which adds up to £4k a month
Unless I'm doing something wrong, in which case I'm happy to be corrected.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

Heya i had assumed that as she has 4 kids, with her as the 5th family member,
that she would be entitled to atleast 4bedrooms, if not 5bedrooms as there are 5 family members.
So either or £4,333 or £7,800 per month housing benefit. (When based on 52weeks per year)
I guess i was mistaken though.
So sorry for posting incorrect info Lisa,
you are actually only entitled to £3,033 per month housing benefit.0 -

As zzzLazyDaisy has noted, the LHA rates vary considerably between the areas noted (although I am unsure how someone could not know where they live). Therefore, whilst they may be entitled to LHA of £3,000 per month, they may only be entitled to half that amount.
It would not be possible to be more specific until the OP decides where they wish to live, and indeed where they are able to find a landlord willing to take someone dependent on benefits.Gone ... or have I?0 -

OP can I suggest you go onto www.entitledto.co.uk for specific amounts, if you have a specific rather than generic question then please come back and start a new thread.
