Is there a complete list somewhere of what my daughter will need to take with her. She is hopefully going to be in self catered halls of residence. She only got in through clearing this week so it feels like we have just arrived from another planet, no paperwork completed, no money sorted, nothing ready. No idea yet even when she is going, could be the third week in September. Panic:eek:

Went for some electricals - kettle and sandwich toaster as a start. Waiting to see what else is needed once she arrives.

Great prices at Asda for starter items for students - e.g. the 2 above were under £6 each.

Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions.

I have a godchild going to Uni next month and think it would be a good idea to buy a present that will come in useful.

    Buy her some condoms.

  • Just dropped son off at Uni over the weekend - and guess what - everyone had thought that everyone else would bring a kettle (5 sharing a flat) - and no-one did - and the local tesco had sold out of cheap kettles. I thought it was quite funny!!!

electrical items such as kettles and mini fridges aren't usually allowed in bedrooms in halls - you might get away with hiding a toaster or a kettle, but a mini fridge is difficult to keep concealed from the cleaners...

I had a mini fridge in my room at university; if anyone commented on it during inspections etc. I used to say I needed to keep my medications refrigerated...no-one dared to challenge that! :D
