Using Windows slideshow picture viewer

I have a file of images on my pc (XP Pro) that I want to run as a slideshow in a specific order. I have put all the images in one folder and ordered them and numbered them in sequence. But when I run the slideshow option using Windows Picture viewer, they display in random sequence.
Am I missing a setting?

Not sure if this will help but can you name the pictures 1,2,3 etc? Will that now work?0

Sorry only had a quick glance at the text so missed the message!
I take it you don't have powerpoint where you could transfer the pictures onto?
Maybe try open office which seems to have powerpoint features? I've personally never used it, but people on this board do seem to recommed it.0 -
Right click in the slide show and turn off "Shuffle" ?0

Hi,
using WMP 11, when in play mode, the little gear wheel to the right of the play button gives you speed, shuffle, loop options, just tick your preferences.0 -
Right-click on the folder, and select 'Properties', making sure the folder type is 'Pictures'
When in the folder, select detail view, sort the pictures into the order you want, then select 'View as a Slide Show' from the task panel at LHS
That's how I usually do it.0
