Persimmons house

Hi,

I will try and keep this brief. I purchased a house from Persimmons 3 yrs ago and have been renting the house since. Recently water was leaking from the ceiling and onto the tenant’s pc damaging her goods. Now we found out that the stack running from the third floor into the bathroom had an unsupported pipe (possibly illegal the plumber has taken some pictures for me). The corner joint had come lose as there was movement from the unsupported pipe.

Now I have obviously had to incur a financial lose and have contacted persimmons as they have sold me a house with major defect. I had no way of knowing about the defect as the pipes were obviously hidden in the walls of the house. Now I know this is outside the 2 yr warranty window that persimmons offer, but believe I am entitled to compensation from them. As due to there shoddy workmanship it was basically a incident waiting to happen.

I have written to persimmons and was told they will not do anything. Now do I have a case against them? As I would like to go down the route of a no-win no fee claim that you see on tv. Does anyone know of any good companies to use? I’m not fussed about them taking a percentage as long as I get something back and demonstrate to Persimmons that they can not just fob innocent people off.

Do you have an NHBC/ Zurich policy?

NHBC is not worth the paper its written on as they only cover the brick and foundations only, I too have a permission house (2 bed housing As one) and due to shoody workmanship the roof ridge tiles are all loose. A job I will have to sort out over the summer, front porch roof area has no insulation what so ever (nor main living room porch roof) - this was sorted out by me stuffing the roof space of loft insulation. But the porch remains very cold due to the poor fitting of the front door. Again something I going have to pay out (PVC this time)

Yes I tried my insurance company - not interested [due to poor workmanship]
