Credit zapped over £16.00 by Tesco

Ten years ago i had a Tesco Credit Card, that i paid and closed off with a balance transfer. Or so i thought.

i recently applied for a loan to buy a new car and was declined. So i ordered my free credit report and found that there was a £16.00 balance, which i think was the amount for a card protection policy.

So tesco's have zapped my credit rating for the sake of £16.00.

Since i closed the account they have never contactd me to say that there is a £16.00, and just held a red mark against me. argghhhh:mad:

has anyone else had this happen to them, or does anyone have any advice on how i can go about clearing this stain.:A

Sounds like a recurring payment.

Tesco were obliged to pay it if so (even on 'closed' cards - they aren't really closed for this exact reason,) and it was your responsibility to
1) Ensure you canceled any recurring payments on the card
2) Ensured that you kept your details up to date with Tesco so they could send you a statement should such a payment be made and
3) If applicable, kept any direct debit in place to cover any payment required.

Did you cancel the card protection policy or move it to another card when canceling the Tesco card?
