you dont mean the part that plugs into the 12v fag lighter but the cable that can be connected to the car battery somehow0 -

No i was searching google to find out how we charge from computer to iPhone, the same method just insert the other end of usb into car usb player port. But Google they people talk about connecting/charging from cig.lighter one via adaptor.0 -
It's a little more complicated than just will it work unfortunately. Best bet is to try it and see. The iPhone uses a slightly different wiring in the USB cable that changes how and if it charges meaning a lot of old docks and chargers are hitting problems. They stopped allowing charging using firewire and moved solely to USB which means any equipment using the firewire style wiring (even though it's a USB cable !) may not work. I know it doesn't make much sense but it's Apple... they don't need to make sense.
I bought one of these : http://store.apple.com/uk/product/TS696LL/A for using with my old Kenwood stereo which sorted out the iPhone charging issue for me. Got it from eBay for a lot cheaper than Apple wanted though ! There's another company make a similar adapter but I can't remember who.
So in short, plug it in and see if it starts charging. Hope that helps.0 -
